Don’t get me wrong, reliability is important, but many people waste too much time looking for the perfect host. Jsut make sure your choice can handle these things and you will be OK.

1. Your Site is your online Headquarters — You don’t have to have the coolest looking web site on the block, but you definitely need it to be simple to use. Once you are able to drive traffic to the site, you want your visitors to be able to navigate around easily.

2. It has got to be easy to get around. — Seriously, keep it simple. You can’t have people spending more than a couple of seconds trying to find what they are looking for. It will kill your business and the amount of time someone spends on your site.

3. Reduce the number of images on your website — They make your site load very slowly and more often than not they are very unnecessary. If you think any image is essential on your site, make sure you optimize them using image editing programs so that they have a minimum file size.

4. Keep your text paragraphs at a reasonable length — If a paragraph is too long, you should split it into separate paragraphs so that the text blocks will not be too big. This is important because a block of text that is too large will deter visitors from reading your content.

5. All the browsers need to be able to show your site — Explorer and Firefox are two of the biggest browsers, but there are more. Check out w3.org and make sure your site will work the same on each browser. It probably will, but it doesn’t hurt to check.

6. Please, back away from the scripts — I would say just stay away from them all together. They slow the loading of your site way, way down. Remember, keep things very simple. You don’t always need all the fancy flashing lights. Let people find what they are looking for.
