Build Your List With Giveaway Events

So, here’s my step-by-step guide to contributing to a giveaway event.

DOMAIN NAME

If you haven’t already done so, you will need to register a domain name (preferably www(dot)yourname(dot)com) and build your own Wordpress Blog. Whilst this isn’t essential for contributing to a giveaway, you will need a blog if you’re serious about forging a career in the Internet Marketing niche.

If you have any doubts about getting your own web-site or blog then I’m sorry, but a career in Internet Marketing is probably not for you.

I’m not going to go into setting up your blog here, but if you want my advice, I would recommend you use Namecheap and Hostgator to register and host your domain.

Namecheap costs around $9.69 per domain, per year and is just about the cheapest there is. Plus you can easily find a discount voucher of $0.88 if you know where to look…

“Wow! 88 cents”

Not the biggest discount but it equates to just under 10%, which is not to be sniffed at.

Just google “Namecheap coupon February (or whatever month it is) 2010? and you will find the discount voucher. Currently the voucher code is NCSPRING which will expire by the end of March 2010.

If you need assistance in setting up you blog then do as I did and follow Tommy McLaughlin’s Blog Set Up Tutorials

HOSTING YOUR DOMAIN

Hostgator are my recommendation – In the relatively short space of time that I have employed them, I can honestly say that their service is second to none. Their “Baby Croc” package allows you to have as many domains as you can shake a stick at for around $90 per year.

You are welcome to try another hosting service, but do they have as good a standard of customer service as Hostgator? Have they got a live instant messaging service, with very knowledgeable representatives? I would find out beforehand if I were you.

A 20% discount is available right now by entering the coupon code, “TOPHOST”. If this doesn’t work by the way then ask Mother Google for help as there usually is a discount coupon available.

CHANGE DNS

“Change what Cliff?”

So you’ve got your domain and hosting sorted. But because you’ve used 2 different companies in this process, you will need to change Namecheap’s Domain Name Servers (DNS) over to Hostgator’s.

This isn’t as technical as it sounds and you can find your way to Hostgator’s tutorial video by clicking on the link at the bottom of this page.

AUTORESPONDER

You’re getting close now to starting to build your very own list of subscribers. An autoresponder is a vital resource for you to manage the details of your list.

Look no further than AWeber who are the best at what they do. Again, their service isn’t free but it’s hard to imagine being a professional Internet Marketer without an effective autoresponder.

AWeber costs around $16 per month and the first month is only $1

GIVEAWAY EVENT PRODUCT

You’re nearly there now, just need a product or products to offer as gifts in order for you to commence your listbuilding experience.

If you haven’t got your own product, there are plenty of free and low cost eBooks available to use on the internet. Look for products with MRR (Master Resale Rights) or PLR (Private Label Rights).

If you decide to get your own product, then take your time finding it, as there is a lot of rubbish out there.
